NEWS – NEUIGKEITEN – NOUVELLES – NEWS – NEUIGKEITEN – NOUVELLES
As you are reading this, we’re in the middle of updating our plans:
The recent developments of the pandemic situation in Stuttgart allow us to re-open the theatre from Monday the 7th of June 2021 and thus present the performances of the festival to audiences. Check here for the schedule of the live performances at JES.
The three never tiring festival organisers Grete Pagan, Petra Jeroma and Martha Schmalz are sculpturing version 7.0 – and we could not be happier.
We will be able to share the joy of theatre with you!
Delight, chaos, overload.
Five international performances await you. BRONKS, Laika and Campo will join us, three of the most renowned Belgian companies, who will be showing dance and object theatre, a Swiss-Belgian duo, who will stir up our hormones and a French object theatre artist with his comic solo.
For all the people who are unable to come to Stuttgart or JES this spontaneously, the live streams and video on demand programme will still be on.
Part of Bright View is always the professional reflexion: on one hand in the work meeting of the regional theatres for young audiences, which this year will be in internal workspace, on the other hand in an extended digital workspace, searching for concepts for a theatre of solidarity for young audiences - on stage and beyond.
We say thank you to our donors, the City of Stuttgart, the State of Baden-Württemberg and our sponsors who followed all our versions of planning and stood behind us.
Et voilà: It was worth it!
SAVE THE DATE
Schöne Aussicht / Bright View 2022: 8th - 15th of May 2022!
Brigitte Dethier &
Christian Schönfelder
Artistic Directors
In times of a pandemic things are very quickly outdated: these greeting
were only written a week ago. We still enjoy the warm words of our
donors. The festival team.
Dear Audience, dear JES, dear friends of the theatre!
Last year BRIGHT VIEW had to be cancelled due to the pandemic - but this year the view isn’t quite so bad: the festival is happening, even if only as a digital festival. Unfortunately more isn’t possible, as the pandemic situation is still precarious. Various versions of the festival were planned, many nerves and a lot of effort went into the planning - as the new Mayor of Stuttgart I would like to say thank you to the people at JES for their hard work.
Next to the County of Baden-Württemberg, the City of Stuttgart is one of the main donors of the festival. We didn’t think twice to shift the allowance from last year to 2021, as we are backing the attempts to keep the cultural life in the City going as much as possible - as much as is responsible. We are also happy for the artists who have gone through a hard, even existence-threatening year, that now they can perform at this great and important festival. Although the performances will be different from other ones: Live Streams only or maybe with a small audience - far from the grand applause which they usually receive.
The City of Stuttgart owes thanks to the team of JES for offering this fantastic theatre to the young (and older) public. An also for hosting BRIGHT VIEW, the well known festival which has been running for many years now and every two years draws in theatre makers from all over the world.
Dear audience, ladies and gentlemen: I wish you many great theatre experiences - if only on screen - at this years hybrid festival edition!
Hopefully we will be able to celebrate the 2022 edition of BRIGHT VIEW in full presence!
Dr. Frank Nopper
Mayor of the City of Stuttgart
A warm welcome to the international theatre festival “Schöne Aussicht/ Bright View”, which this year we will experience less in the real world in Stuttgart and more in the virtual space.
Even if the views are slowly getting brighter, it is too early to celebrate “Schöne Aussicht” the way we know it: as a frolicsome feast of theatre. All the more I am happy that – after last years edition had to be postponed – the festival directors are realising the digital festival version this year.
The government of the State of Baden-Württemberg, as a sponsor of the festival as well as the scene of theatre for young audiences, supports every attempt and possibility to facilitate theatre for families, kindergartens and schools – these days often through digital proposals, but hopefully soon again as analogue events on stage and in the theatre spaces.
Five performances will be attending the festival after all. They will play at JES and the performances will be streamed live. The performances of the regional theatres will not be presented this year, as most of them are already available as video on demand at the new streaming platform www.theater-stream.de. The Ministry for Science, Research and Art financially supported this platform to make theatre available especially for children and young people during the pandemic.
A place in the festival programme is also reserved for the Youth Theatre Award, biannually presented since more than 40 years: the digital Artists Talk with the authors presents the award winners of 2020.
A warm thank you to the festival directors and everyone working on the festival and I wish all the curious audiences in front of their screens an exciting festival and inspiring discussions.
Petra Olschowski MdL
Secretary of State at the Ministry for Science, Research and Art Baden-Württemberg
